What Is Your Collecting Holy Grail?

name that tune

Rubberneck by The Toadies, only released on vinyl in the US in 1994 and I've never seen one come up for sale either in the UK or on the web.

I am a big fan of Eels, and especially their album Electro-Shock Blues which has a limited edition on two 10" blue vinyl. Normal releases where only on CD. I've seen it on Ebay twice, but way above my budget.

Deftones - Adrenaline. There was a picture disc and a promo and that was it, probably never see it though.

I Am Kloot - I Am Kloot. They are out there but people don't really want to get rid of this one.

King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King. Not so rare but pricey for a good original.

i don't collect discs i listen to them ! I prefer a cheap 2nd hand copy of an album that is 30 years old than a re issue remastered digitalized and redigitalized overpriced piece of junk for a fortune ! If you really want to listen the music on an expensive LP but you can't afford it buy it on cd ! If you are a collector and you want the records to put them on a shelf thinking of to sell them in the future for a lot on money then invest on it !

Yeah? I buy to isten too. We'd all love to find cheap 2nd hand copies, but most of the mentioned records either never show up for sale or if they do command ridiculous prices to obtain. Thus a re-issue is a great way to get a coveted record for a reasonable price. They don't sound bad at all. And, ones I've got did not cost a fortune. Certainly a lot less than what a rare lp fetches in most instances. Sure you could have it on c.d., if there is no other possibility, but that aint the point.

That is a great Album. Check out the Dutch eBay, try released it on a single lp and prices don't go too high!!

Also have a look at the book everest (ee) released a couple of years ago, very intense and fundamental if u want to understand his music.

Cheers

Thanks for the advice. I've already got the book, it is indeed a great insight in his music.

I know these aren't that rare, but I constantly look around Japan for the Japan releases (with obi) each time I go out. The hunt is the fun part of the whole thing...

King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King
Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick
Jeff Wayne - War of the Worlds
Alan Parsons Project - Turn of a Friendly Card
Pink Floyd - Meddle
Pink Floyd - Animals (strike that-looked in my collection...have it!)
Pink Floyd - Pulse
Anything by "It's a Beautiful Day"
Micro Seiki DD-8 | MA-505 MkI | Denon DL-301II | Denon DL-130 | Denon AU-320 | Denon DP-59L | Pioneer PL-1250

They are incredible live as well. I took my 14 year old son to see them at the Nokia theater in LA a couple of years ago. It was their 10,000 Days tour. Great stuff.

Simple...Rush " Moving Pictures", unplayed copy or a sealed copy.

The ones on Ebay seem to be played to death and I can understand why...classic indeed.

I recenlty obtained a NM 1st Jap pressing of Moving pictures from a Japanese seller on Fleabay. Killer sound, dead quiet vinyl. I happily paid $80.00 USD.

I have found that the Japanese pressings almost always exceed American pressing quality by quite a fair margin. I have found some great Japanses sellers on Ebay with lots of great NM stuff. The Moving Pictures LP I ordered from Tokyo on a Friday night was in my hands by the follwing Tuesday.

My Holy grail would be a sealed or NM copy of Pink Floyd DSOTM solid Blue triangle, first UK press.
