Before I get to the subject I will point out there has been no post on this forum for 13 days. Keep this up and the Linn forum might be replaced for another such as a Michell forum, Heaven forbid!!

Well, that's a thought...

Apparently the felt loses its life over time. And new Linn felt is different than old, thinner. I am on my third felt mat in 32 years. Never tried others although I recently bought a basket case LP12 with a vintage sorbothane AudioQuest mat. Someday I may try it just for grins.

I would be willing to give that a try. How thick is the leather you are using?

Try 1 - 2 mm. soft leather. A square foot should only be a few bucks.

Cheers,
Alec

Hi Alec

because of your post, I bought a square foot of 2mm leather (nubuck to be precise).

I tried some felt mats, the herbie mat, some high density foam very rigid mat, a cork mat... that leather mat is really good and as you said, for a couple of euros...

best regards
