Hi, picked up a new Project Genie (white) about a month ago. Nice entry level table. Seems to do everything right so far. Came with a Ortofon 2M Red cartridge.
Table is very straight forward with its controls and easy to use. I also like the fact that it is unique looking being entry level.
I have already upgraded the cartridge to a Ortofon 2M Blue. Having a bit of issue with the Blue as it is much lower in volume to the red. (will post in the cart forum)
Only negative I have with the table is that 1 out of 5 times when I turn the motor on the plith does not start spinning right away. I have to give it a lite push for it to start spinning. I can see the motor spinning so think the belt is slipping on the plith or the motor wheel. I have cleaned the wheel with alcohol but did not correct it.
Audio store where I purchased is going to have a look at both issues for me.
Other then that the sound is really nice and the 2M series cartridges sound great.
Rock, jazz, bluegrass all sound great on the table. Well defined bass and nice mid range. Tracks well and the anti-skate weight seems to do the job well.
Anyone else using one of these? If you looking for a nice table at a reasonable price, you should include it in your search.
Greg
