Blancmange The Day Before You Came the ABBA cover version. Still sounds great pressing unfortunately the sleeve is a bit worn.

My first 45 was "Tell Him" by The Exciters. My Dad bought it for me.
I still love that tune - that recording, really - with the glockenspiel/violin intro.

I believe mine was 98.6 by Keith, at the old SS Kresge (pre KMART) store.

Still have a copy on 45 (though not the original I bought) and probably digital.

Manfred Mann - Pretty Flamingo. As I've said in another post, got into the habit of buying the album a single came from later, but this was the first.

I agree. That record came out in the US in the Summer of 1964. There weren't any other singles that were so darkly atmospheric or down-right spooky coming from any of the other British Invasion acts. Most of them were so sunny, up-beat and perky in comparison.
For another thing, I hadn't heard an electric piano play the central role in a song other than "What I'd Say" by Ray Charles. My copy was released on Parrot records and had a very cool B-side, as well ("You Make Me Feel Good").

Guess I'm much younger than you guys. My first 7" was 'I'll Stick Around' by the Foo Fighters in 1995, on red vinyl. I was 12 years old and I couldn't afford an LP haha.

I'm not quite shure, It was either Wings with Mull of Kintyre or AC/DC Whole lotta Rosie. It was in 1978.
