I have heard them at trade shows. I thought they were a great value. Appeared to be well built and held it's own against more expensive phono stages in a comparison. I don't know what the pricing is like in Finland, but in the US, they used to be inexpensive but have been going up over time.

It costs less than two
metres of mains cable
anywhere else, sounds
like a world beater, it’s
called Heed Quasar,
and is possibly one of
the biggest bargains
on today’s high-end
market.

Hi,

Who pays > £550 for two metres of mains cable ?
A high end bargain ? Surely thats an oxymoron ?

I cannot be bothered to read the rest of the review ......
Well I forced myself to, it is written by a gushing idiot.

Not saying the product is bad, but the review is meaningless.

rgds, sreten.

(Investigatng the design of, and trying to build such a device
will bring you back down to earth with a bump, but if the target
demographic is people coughing up hundreds for mains cables .....)

I have it's little sister a Heed Questar MM. It is a killer very good value IMHO and five star sounding.
I also heard a lot of good things about the Quasar as well.

So i bought Quasar and it's absolutely great preamp! Only problem is that sound level was first too low and then i discovered high output and now levels are ok. Actually it could be little lower. But this is better than too low.

I have had the Quasar for over a year, it is a great preamp. Using with my rega p5 and dynavector 20xl and shelter 501 mkII. It has been excellent with both carts, smooth and with good punchy bass, brings out the finesse and dynamics in the shelter.
You can set the gain as well as the loading, and there are both low and high outputs that are always active. I use the low output as it sounds better balanced to me, and has never had too low a volume in my experience.

Just got one in here and am extremely happy with it, after having run a Bryston BP1 for ever and ever. Remarkable detail and warmth. For me, the high-level output (running an Ortofon 2M Blue MM for now) was within perhaps a dB, 1.5dB of my Cambridge Azur 840C, so a good match.
Rega RP3, TTPSU, Groovetracer delrin, reference subplatter & counterweight, Lim double pulley
Shelter 501-II with Soundsmith Level II, Heed Quasar
