What Is Your Collecting Holy Grail?

name that tune

Postby soundsliketom » 18 Aug 2010 07:58

I picked up all my LZ LP's for $1.99 or cheaper in the clearance bins at Amoeba. Scuffed up and beat up but no skips. Works for me.

my holy grail right now is Helmet's Meantime LP.

After a mint UK copy of the strokes, is this it, but there hitting big money at the moment.

Whats the deal with pink floyd 'pulse'?
I was offered it the other day but didnt even ask the price, same guy had paranoid and vol4 on vertigo swirl for 20 each so i guess this would have been pretty cheap too.

Dont like the album at all so just said no.

Is it just expensive, or rare?

If rare, i can ask him about it if anyone wishes.

I'd love a copy of A House Safe For Tigers by Lee Hazlewood but it sold in small quantities and was only available in Sweden.

If only I had a spare £200

Kaleidoscope (UK) "Tangerine Dream" and "Faintly Blowing", LPs on Fontana Records, original British pressings, never released in the States...

With you on that one. "New York City Cops" is awesome and the cover is way better! Does the UK version have an alternate take of "Barely Legal"? Because I have 2 versions of that song and IDK where the other one came from.

Hmm. Not sure. I did research Barely Legal and there's a demo version on the b-side of The Modern Age single. :)

Still looking for Alison Krauss and Union Station's "New Favorite" There is one copy on ebay for $250! Way too much.

Also Dave Matthews Band "Across These Crowded Streets" is another usually sells for $150 and up.

I finally got a copy of " Now That I've Found You" by AKUS for $80. Still sealed.

To date the most I paid for a single LP is $85.00
That was MSFL's "Teaser and the Firecat" by Cat Stevens. Worth every penny.

I have found persistence pays off.

John Cougar Mellencamp - A Biography. A UK only release from the late 70's. I have read his record company tried to slot him into the punk rock explosion. Very strange and sold in small quantities. I have only seen one copy and the owner would not part with it.[/b]
