"Well blow me down!" as my old hero Popeye used to say, when i saw this thread while waiting for the washing machine to finish its cycle - surely they cannot mean my 2000 Interscope Records/Polydor vinyl copy of QOTSA "RATED R (X Rated) " LP.....can they? I always thought this was a gem, one of the good sounding albums in my arsenal.
Just to make sure, i have said album on my faithful Linn as i write - some difficult passages there being handled very well without a trace of (unintentional) distortion, lovely tight bass, good imaging, nice splashy hihat, pounding drums, searing guitars, clear sound, involving, no surface noise at all....cassette quality? i hated cassettes, and threw them to the four winds at the earliest opportunity, their muddy hissy efforts a long forgotten 70's memory along with my Austin Allegro
Honestly, they can't be talking about
my copy....? beware of cheap imitations is all i can say, my X RATED is not the best sounding album i have heard but still rates higher than many, and never dull.
what's so bad about yours...?
errr.... and graphic equalisers...?
i give up...
