AR The Turntable

Hi all,
first of all much thanks to Vinyl Engine.
I bought an AR turntable but I don't know the model. On the rear label is written: The AR Turntable ..... xe-500405. I think it is just "The AR Turntable" (who me has sold said that it was the model "AR Legend". At that moment I have been ingenuous and I have believed to what it said to me). :evil:

The first problem: I would like to change the 33 rpm belt but I don't know the exact its measure (circumference and/or diameter). Someone that knows these measures in millimeters or centimeters and not in feet/inch.
It would appeal to me also to know if the measures of the 33 rpm belt of the Legend model are the same ones of model AR The Turntable. Thanks.

Sounds like (no pun intended) you have the same TT as mine.

I think that for the money, you will still enjoy your "The AR Turntable", except for the wheird way that you have to describe the model.

I have been using mine since about 1985, and it has been a solid performer. If you have kids / dogs, you will be pleased with the way it shrugs off a bouncing floor while spinning your vinyl (when I was in my teens, and had my system at my parents' home, I liked to listen with headphones, while my 200-250 kg parents would walk by, making the floor bounce - my records never skipped a beat!).

Enjoy it - trust me, it will grow on you.

I belive that AR called it's first turntable "The AR Turntable". Some other manufacturers did similar things. I have a pair of the first loudspeakers made by Advent. Their labels say "The Advent Loudspeaker". The original design has a walnut veneer. Later a cheaper version was released. The cabinet had a cheap, imitation walnut finish with a few less details. It was sold as the Advent Loudspeaker, Utility Cabinet. I recently acquired a pair of these. When they came out with a second design, they had to had to come up with another name. Someone later called their original design "The Large ..." and the new, smaller version "The Small ..." That may have been Advent also, but I'm not sure.

In other words - If your turntable is only identified as "The AR Turntable" it may be the first model they made.

The first model AR made was the XA. "The Turntable" came later.

"The AR Turntable" has a base like the ES-1 and a platter/tonearm rest similar to the EB101. Mine has the dinky Princeton motor, which is prone to bearing wear (see the "Source for AR Replacement Motors" dialog).

I am curious, though. I have a "Profile" tonearm. Does any of yours have this? It may be a custom add-on.
