Best Debut Album Of All Time?

Gents, if we wander off "Debuts" it just becomes a "greatest LP of all time" thread, so 2nd or 3 rd or 4th albums.......just don't count :-)

I would also suggest that debut albums from artists going solo would be acceptable , take Bjork debut album , surprisingly called " Debut" , we could be pedantic and say she was with the sugarcubes so can't be counted , but that would be wrong ;-)

Would Deja Vu be considered a debut, since it was the first for Crosby Stills Nash and Young?

Gotta agree on Pearl Jam...

Also a very strong and darn good album from the same time periode (1 year later to be exact), Rage Against the Machine S/T. Haven't listened to it in a while, but gonna have to pull it out and give it a spin when I get home.

Have to agree that the Stones first album was one hell of a debut.

Now, Mona Bone Jakon mentioned above is definitely not his first album, that would be Matthew and Son. However, it was his first album after getting sick and his first as a "singer/songwriter" and playing the music he became famous for. In some ways like a debut album bot not really. It also happens to be one hell of a good record.

For me it's the first Taj Mahal album. After more than 40 years it still gives me the same thrill it gave me the first time I heard it. In, fact, I think I'll listen to it now.

BTW I still have the first-edition Born to Run CD I got with my Sony CDP-101, Sony's debut CD player. I think that thing was $900, got it at Pacific Stereo. It sounded gawd-awful, but the Springsteen CD still plays fine.
