Basik LVX vtf dial wont rotate

Postby thermionics » 27 May 2012 06:00

Hello Linn gurus,

I've obtained an LVX to rejuvenate an Axis. It's the non-plus model but I'm hoping it will still work well for my first Linn.

The counter weight turns fine but I cannot zero the vtf dial. It seems to be glued in place. I noticed a couple of grub screws and removed them. It still will not turn!

Perhaps there is some rubber behind that has perished and caused the mechanism to bind up?

I guess it will still work but I'd like to know what is going on with the vtf dial and hopefully correct it. Could anyone enlighten me?

No one?

Well, it turns out the dial had been glued in place.

I managed to free it by holding the weight in a vice and using a three point watch caseback opener to turn it breaking the glue (after removing the grub screws of course).

Is this normal practice? I'd assume not. But I hope this helps anyone else in my position.
