What arm do you have on your LP12?

a way of life

I have an Ekos but have considered a Naim Arro, any suggestions? What could I expect to gain or lose. I am using a Lyra Kleos. Or am better to save for Ekos SE?

I bought my LP12 new in 1983 as an apprentice and have had the LV/V on it ever since. I am now looking for a replacement (due to arm damaged in transit).

I have been looking at the Origin Live or Audiomods I would be interested in hearing fro anyone with these arms.

Well started with a 'tick-tock'.....(Ittok), then got led astray with a Zeta, returned to the fold with an Ekos 1, then Ekos 2, now an Ekos SE, with an Akiva. 8)
The SE is a big up-grade over the 2, but make sure the rest of the turntable is up-to-date first, ie Keel and, if you can afford it, Radikal.

A brand new Akito 2B, but with the new bearings and the new grey cable.

My Linn story started just 2 month ago? I have been craving for a Linn for a long time but just not got in to business bying one. So a short story of this.
A friend bought a pair of used VR5 speakers here in sweden.
During visit at sellers home and listening to the speakes before buying i noticed an old Systemdeck player in another room of his apertment. Just asked if he not listen to Lp anymore.
He replied that he like LP a lot but he refer the easieness of CD as he was getting little older and more comfy. he is 70.
Ha asked if i wanted the player for free?
Oh yes!
When collecting the speakers the weekend after, he offered me another player he had stored in his basement, it's a old Linn he said.
I did not beleive it to be an actual Linn LP12 but off course i want it.
But as it turned out it is a old LP12 with Grace 707 arm, i mounted my Benz Ruby3 on it and i was totally blown away?
My old player went stright to the adds and where sold within 2 weeks.
I am now a total Linn addict.
The arm stays for now but are quietly looking for newer versions of Linn arms. But have to say the graze sound wonderful in my system.

Congratulations and welcome to the fold!! :D I bought my LP12 in 78/79 ... although there is not much common between the one I bought and what I have now (as it's had a number of upgrades over the years. :)

If you research this site and the Linn LP12 Forum, you will find a number of things you can do which will improve the sound of the LP12 you have. Upgrading the arm is certainly one thing ... but be aware the Grace 707 is a very good arm (if it's in good working order). But whether it is a good match for your Ruby3, I cannot confirm. Having had a Ruby2 and now a Benz LP, I can confirm your Ruby3 is a great match for a Graham 2.2 arm, though. :D

Good luck,

Andy

I did already John, but in the 774 rewire thread here http://www.vinylengine.com/turntable_forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=15841&start=105 (it was the folks on here that inspired me to finally get this done!).
