Null points for 10" records only?

Postby 78 archivist » 17 Feb 2012 03:22

My engineer's finishing up my 301 and it's going to have two fixed pivot vintage 12" Ortofon 309/Ikeda headshell/Stanton 500 cart on them. This table is only going to be for 10" 78s so I want the alignment optimized for them. Does anyone here know if there are defined null points already Baerwald, Loefgren, or Stevenson for 10" records? And also does anyone have experience/opinions on which null points sound the best for 78rpm?

thanks,

Not all that difficult. Get the Baerwald calculator here among other places. Enter 50mm for innermost groove and 120mm for outermost groove. Or whatever you think represents your 78s and the effective length of your tonearm.
It'll give you the baerwald fit.

If you use my template generator, it does everything based on inner and outer grooves for the three alignments, so it's perfect for what you're doing. Now it also does custom strobe disks if you need 'em for 78s or some non-standard strobe frequency.
