....and it sounds wonderful!!! Recorded in Dave Grohl's garage using analog equipment. I almost bought the cd along with the album because the cd was packaged with a piece of the original master tape!!

My Morning Jacket's latest Circuital was like this. It was a normal album on double lp in 45 rpm format.

It had a really great sound but I have no idea how much of it had to do with the medium it was put, the speed it was played or maybe more to do with the weirdo tactics they used to record it inside of that big church gym.

Just gotta agree with all those who say 45 RPM album re-releases are great - there have recently been re-releases of Bob Dylan and The Doors in this great format. I speak of 12" disks, with about 10 minutes of music per side - the release of boxed 7" singles making-up an album kinda goes past the point of "can't be bothered", to turn over after every song!

Listening to Ocean Colour Scene, Moseley Shoals, 2 x 45RPM LP's. Sounds absolutely fantastic.

If back in the day you bought a single by one of your fav bands because you couldn't wait for the LP and then bought the LP later the single always had a superior sound, thing was most people never played the single once they got the LP so they never compared it. I am waiting for the new Foo Fighters double album to arrive and it is the 12' 45rpm format.

I have a never played sealed copy of Gentle Giant's "The Power and the Glory", the LP and the eponymous track on 45 single. When all my decks are sorted, I'll compare the two, side by side.

Portishead released its albums as double lps at 45rpm. It sounds great, but you have to stay close to the turntable; just one or two songs and then you have to flip it. It seems to be the catching on.

But before this, Angel Records had a series of 12' lps that played at 45rpm, also because of sound quality. It was called the "Angel Sonic Series".

I'm thinking of buying one of those, actually.

Oh, since these other related topics came up:
Faith No More's King for a Day was realeased as a bunch of 45 singles. yum.

And The Beach Boys released Good Vibrations as a 78rpm single for Record Store Day.
