Not terribly thick- think of it like a TiN coating on a drill bit (only harder and slicker) :twisted:

You might even be able to make the stylus from copper or silver and get the thermal conductivity benefits of those easy to work metals with the wear and lubricity properties of the DLC coating... :idea:

Oooo......that has to be interesting. How thick can the coating be ?


thought pure diamond was used because of not only its hardness but because it had highest thermal conductivity of any substance so takes heat away from the contact point between the tip and the vinyl,helps to preserve your records:-I doubt a tungsten tip coated in this diamond substitute would perform any where near the same
