I can understand if you're in love with the bottom end but I found mine had a 'quacky' mid-range that I could never get used to.

I don't seem to have encountered that with my speakers. They have a very open, clean and accurate midrange to my ears. No quackiness here...You maybe had a bad pair or they didn't suit your room or electronics? What model were they?

Maybe those TDL Refs were just too much for your room and got some terrible modes going to produce that "quacky" sound.![]()
