I prefer full-range floorstanders for most listening. Infinity RS-IIb's are my primary speakers when the missus will let me take over the living room for an extended session. Otherwise, it's Sony SS-M7's. I also have some Infinity RS-IIIb's in a secondary system.

Homebrew TL speakers, not changed for ages. Like well fitting boots.

Also use NF (not listed, bookself I suppose) for test and ad-hoc listening.

Do we really have no Electrostatic users? Have we all got rooms that are too small to accommodate these, or is there some other reason they have so far gone unmentioned? I remember hearing a pair or Martin Logans (I'm not sure which model?) about 20 years ago when buying some gear off a guy and they were truly captivating. He had them about ten feet from the back wall and 4 feet from side walls though

JaS, I have a pair of kostas Metaxis Electrostatic floorstand speakers, designed by Alan Gregory. I am not using them at present. they do sound good, but I prefer the higher SPL of largefloorstander dynamic speakers.

So about three feet away from the listener on the couch on the other wall?

LOL, no they were about 1/3rd of the way into the room. I can afford the speakers now but not the space...

mine are both floorstanding and horn loaded, no way to pick both so I chose horn loaded.

Klipschorns, from 1978, original owners.

Yo speaker seekers:

Main system: Biamped passive crossover Dynaudio system. Dyna ST-120 driving Dynaudio 30W100's in 6 cubic foot boxes with passive 6 dB/octave crossover @400 Hz.
McIntosh MC250 driving Dynaudio D76 and D28AF's with passive 6dB/octave crossover @400 Hz and 5000Hz for mids and tops. computed F3 of 26 Hz. More like floorsitting, because they take up about 8 square feet each.

Production studio: Kenwood 100WPC recever driving modified Dayton Audio BR-1's. Bookshelf.

Office: Dynaco SCA 80Q driving Magneplanar MG-1B's.Floorstanding.

And good luck from that BIG, LOW guy,

Joe Z.
