Thanks so much for your time and suggestions.
Firstly, I'm not looking to buy another pair of powered speakers.
In actual fact, I'm doing everything I can to move away as I've heard a lot of bad press on them for varying reasons, and secondly, the actual money I have to spend; I'd much rather spend on just speakers - and no bells and whistles this time.
The CV's were suggested to me by someone who had them for a long time, and he bought them a long time ago.
I really am just starting to look around and see what's what out there.
I don't know if it's just me, but new technology seems to be built differently these days.
I feel that long gone are the days where one could buy a piece of hi-fi equipment and have it with you without any worries for a long, long time.
This is why I'd like to buy a pair of speakers that were built a decade+ or so ago, as I know the sound from these things was first of all amazing, and secondly they just seem to be built to last.
I also would LOVE to be able to go into a hi-fi store and listen for days to various options, but here in Pittsburgh, we're pretty limited to good stores that caters for my current particular need.
Sure, I could head to Best Buy etc but they only seem to cater to the home theater market, and that's not where I am either.
Ideally, I'm looking for a good pair of speakers preferably within my budget (I seriously know how good speakers CAN sound), but I'd like them to be of the older ilk - B&W, Tannoy, JBL etc...
