My latest find is this clean Yamaha Natural Sound CR-1020 receiver in near mint condition. This beauty is large and heavy. I picked it up at a yard sale yesterday for $50. The gentleman who sold it to me was the original owner. He said it worked great the last time he used it. He hooked up some cheap small speakers he had and only tried the tuner. It worked, but had the normal scratchy buttons. Some deoxit should take care of it. I haven’t had a chance to hook it up yet, but am looking forward to it.

Very nice pick there, LN Cree, and who's gonna argue with the price of...FREE! Definitely some TLC and a little elbow grease and otherwise and your Sony should be singing again! :D

Download the manuals here, too, if you haven't...

Yes it’s pretty killer and I got it all fixed up now too! It was missing the c-clip on top of the auto mechanism gear. Without it the thing couldn’t return or even lower the arm. Now she’s right again and downright purty too! Very impressive player.

Thanks guys. I finally hooked it up to my Dahlquist DQ10s today. It sounds great. Very sweet sounding and powerful these vintage Yamaha Natural Sound receivers are.

If the DQ10s are in good shape, any properly working receivers will elicit good sound from them. I remember walking through the hall of a hifi show, and stopping in my tracks when I passed the Dahlquist room where the DQ10s where being displayed. I stayed for a good while.

One of the other pick ups from the estate that my friend represented. A McIntosh MA 6100 integrated amp....70 watts/channel. Needs some work for sure......but for sitting around for God knows how long it's in pretty nice shape and sounds excellent. I have it here right now and it seems to sound the best with my Ohm C2s as opposed to my ADS 730s and my original Advents. I'm thinking because the McIntosh stuff is known to be very warm sounding and the Ohms are more open and bright in the upper frequencies. So it seems to be a very nice match with those.

Cost from the estate......free : ) Can't do better than that.

 That's it! We can close this thread, hehe. That's amazing Adamo! :) Don't know about the performance, but these old McIntosh amps look so much better than the stuff they make nowadays.

The thing sounds fabulous. I fear that it has knocked down my 3 very nice receivers down a notch or two. I really love this McIntosh sound. Detailed yet rich, full and warm sounding. Vocals and vocal harmonies never sound strident or stressed....they sound clean, smooth and uncluttered when listening on the McIntosh.

Apparently there really is a reason why this stuff is so expensive.
