Sorry. #-o
Many think that Magnepan's are electrostatic. Just as many call Heil AMT variants ribbons. They are not.

You haven't heard the best of music unless you've heard your vinyl or cds through a robust soundstage with floorstanding speakers. Headphones are great in that they bring the music to you anytime, but you just do not the best sound of music until you've heard them through speakers.

Reminds me of my favorite movie scene, and the greatest stereo scene in any movie made so far:lbls1 wrote: ↑30 Dec 2018 16:59You haven't heard the best of music unless you've heard your vinyl or cds through a robust soundstage with floorstanding speakers. Would anyone have an opinion on how an old (but loved) pair of Klipsch RF15 (weak bass) would compare to a new pair of Definitive Technology D9 bookshelves. Thank you

I have a set of Yamaha SO112T and a set of Peavey T300 high frequency projectors, The Peaveys's are sharp and crisp while the Yamaha's have a fuller sound, when you put them together they sound great.

I've been using a set of JMlab/Focal Daline 6.1 transmission line speakers. Love the sound of these speakers. Not overly bright with good solid bass.

D'Appolito configuration towers using the Dayton Budget MTM design by Wayne Jaeschke, drivers and parts from PartsExpress (design does not seem to be there anymore). Very good imaging when toed in about 10 degrees. Sealed sub of my own design using Dayton aluminum cone reference series sub, found here: https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-au ... m--295-445. Built both projects myself. Sub is outstanding. Very musical but also quick enough for movies. My son named it Big Bad Woof.

For what it is worth....I'm very into retro and vintage, so my main speakers are two sets of vintage Technics X500 Honeycomb Disc three way speakers, both with redone bass surrounds. For the classic rock that I play 85% of the time, they are perfect. I love the sound of them, and also the high water mark they represent in terms of the vintage rock experience. Technics spared no expense in the development of their components at this time, and these speakers still bring great sound to me from my vinyl and components in my listening room. I'm very happy with the sound I get from my system at this point. As far as I am concerned, some products are just done right....the perfect moment realized. Cheers! :D

Nubert nubox 380. And I echo the comment above, these speakers are all I need to listen to music.

Wow!!
Just been reading through this thread and have to say I'm very envious of some of the systems and speakers shown.
My set-up is very much a compromise of space/money/ and being allowed to turn our lounge into a mancave [-X
I use Richter Merlin V bookshelf speakers on sand filled stands. The room is really awkward so not ideally placed against a wall but sitting into a corner. Too many windows. The Richters are Australian designed and built award winning speaker and do surprisingly well, punching well above their weight - see a review here . . .
