I'm running a set of Yamaha NSF-51s and I'm very pleased with them, surprising sound quality from such an inexpensive speaker.

Monitor Audio BX5 floor standers on a recapped Yamaha CR620.
Pleasant detail in the mid-range even at low listening levels, but also quite capable of filling the room with music. But these are my ears.

I have just a set of Roth Audio VA4 Powered speakers as I don't have a lot of space for anything larger.

I also use a set of Sony MDR-EX650AP Earphones

Mostly using a 6 ft Ribbon Hybrid 3 way speaker , but i sometimes do alternate between the ribbon , a floor stander and a large stand mount ..

So i guess i cover all three bases .. :)

Bookshelf speakers.

I currently use the very basic but passable Sony SS-B1000 8ohm 100w bookshelf speakers while I'm still trying to settle on something I can sit atop my homemade floorstands.

About 30% of the time, I'm using my headphones: Grado SR-80e

Floorstanders. Old school custom built Electro-voices my father had built in 1968 or 1969.
They were extremely efficient and very loud. The cabinets are walnut and there were cut outs for installing separates (they were a 3-way in the pic). How could a kid not get into Hi-fi when he's raised with it? That's my little sister pictured, around 1970/71.

I built my own 3-way bass reflex from the ground up. will never give them up ,and will not spend money on some one elses . you know what you want and will learn from the process.if your happy with your sound then why go flip flopping your money all the time . sure they cost a bundle ,there is always better around the corner. if you design, build and have a company work with you as i did, do it. all for uner $1500 a pair and loads of enjoyment.

Building your own sounds like fun. Ours were built down the street by cabinet maker who my father gave dimensions to him. What did you do for crossovers? What components/size drivers did you use, just curious.

Checked out that model as I'm not familiar with it, looks like a serious speaker! I've always enjoyed the Polk sound, mostly have listened to the older SDA/SRS.
