Just added a vintage Luxman M-02 power amp to the family. It was taking me too long to save for a L-590AX. Caution: Power no match for the poster's above. 140 /watts per channel into 8 ohms, 290/4 ohms, 410/2 ohms and 300 watts 8 ohms, Mono. Still a beast non the less. I real beauty, lighting provided by LEDs, real nice. Shows, in mint condition. No noises, smells and ran cool during the short period that I played it. Right now, I'm running it through an ADCOM 715 preamp via the bypass and connected to a pair of Totem Dreamcatchers. Real sweet. My Kenwood Basic M1 Power Amp is occupying the other output via main. I'm trying to cough up the money for the Luxman C-O2 or equivalent. :^o
I purchased a Nichicon Capacitor upgrade kit. If I can't convince my retired buddy to do it, I'll farm it out to a reputable audio repair shop in the area. It will be hard to disconnect when the parts come in. A vey sweet sounding amp indeed.

First of all, I'm impressed with the wide variety of equipment being used by members to power their systems. I am openly old school and have had a long term love affair for a while with an old, but kind, JVC AX-5 integrated amp. It has a wonderful clarity and warmth it lends to virtually everything I hook up to it, so much so that it displaced a very competent HK PM665 integrated taken out for service. Absolutely love it! Vintage rules! 8)

Love the look of the Luxman M-02...very capable, no nonsense kind of feel to it. Love that era and the ethos of the designs. Very functional looking, with a strong industrial correctness. Kudos!

I'm a changed vote now. Was using a Yamaha receiver rated at 70 wpc and thought it sounded fine. Hooked up my Polk SDA-CRS speakers to a Sonamp 275se, high current and 75 wpc, and the speakers began singing like never before. Have since added a Rotel preamp/tuner, and MoFi PhonoStage and am enjoying the whole experience so much. Now, I'm thinking about external DACs for CD listening. Hello rabbits, nice hole you've got here!

Indeed. Big, and lined with gold! :D
Although, I must say, I take perverse delight in cobbling together a nice sounding system for relatively little money.

My music system is powered by a 36 years old Pioneer A8 (90W RMS @ 8Ohm). An outstanding integrated amplifier.
My AV system is powered by a 18 years old Onkyo TX-DS898 (110W RMS @ 8Ohm, all 7 channel driven). A brilliant and powerful AV receiver.

Using an amplifier that only has a volume knob and source selector, (you know which ones are out there) is like driving a car that only has one "gear", instead of 5, 6, or automatic transmissions.
You're stuck with the limitations.
Ya gotta have tone controls, and I don't wanna hear from those "purists" that insist on "flat" crap.

While I don't disagree, I have tended to keep my tone controls more flat in my older age. Variable loudness however is a must if my wife is in the room (she likes the volume knob shifted about 20% counter clockwise from where I would put it).
