And I always thought you were a 'Quad-man' LPspinner. Goes to show how wrong one can think

Hi Satan-F....
I suppose I am a bit of a QUAD fan-boy since I actually own two sets of QUAD amplifiers, one all valve and one all solid state. I still I think QUAD do some really nice stuff.

In truth though, I’m just a sucker for British audio equipment.

There is something kind of conservative but at the same time slightly eccentric and quirky about most of the old school English stuff.

I Use the Arcam Setup when I want to forget about the equipment and just listen to music.

LPs: All nice classics you got there... And I've actually listened to most, too - back then we still had plenty of good hifi shops in Munich...

As for the original topic: I haven't really got a "main system" (rather a couple of non-constant systems...), so I just list my amplification stuff (roughly in order of purchase):

- Yamaha RX-330 receiver (currently on duty again at my parents' place)
- albs PAM-5 pre (mostly used as an active input extender for connecting computers and stuff...)
- harman/kardon HK825/HK870 pre/power combo (currently out of duty - needs maintenance)
- 2x Marantz PM8000 integrated (phono stage modded for reasonable input capacity)
- Yamaha RX-V650 surround receiver
- Meier-Audio Corda HA1, HA1 MkII, and HeadFive home headphone amp
- Meier Audio PortaCorda and PortaCordaII (x2) portable headphone amp
- 2x BASF 8440 receiver (bought used on the bay (a good looking one and a not so good looking one as spare...) and mostly for fun, but I havent't really cared much about these yet - hence possibly in need of maintenance)

Greetings from Munich!

I remember your postings from the past with reference to your Quads and what beautiful examples they are. Very nicely restored.

Back to the thread. I'll add a Denon PMA250 in here as I overlooked that one. Good performance budget level integrated should anyone be looking at entry level amps.

Is that your own design? I love that style, I'm a big fan of Josh Stippich, and is that a "magic eye"? Love it, but why?

not mine, my fathers.

its a set zero feedback with el34 (tungsram) driven by ecc83 (siemens). output transformers hand wound here in athens. magic eye by philips, looks really cool (to me at least). gives the impression of a "live" machine

the wooden box comes from a philips reel mono.

never heard of stippich though..

What some beautiful and classic pieces of amplification you have there. The Sugdens always looked very industrial to me, but soundwise bloody wonderful.

A few years back I used Crimsons, quirky yes, sonically solid. Had them powder coated red to match the name. Replaced all the inputs and outputs which made a pleasant difference:
