Yes, I understand this is as entry level of a vintage receiver as one can get. No, it's not my only vintage receiver. But man, is this one nice sounding unit. I purchased one from the original owner, in town, for $10. All I did was a light cleaning, and cleaning and Deoxit of all the controls and switches. That blue backlit display is amazing, as is the AM/FM tuner performance. The 10 watts/channel do not do it justice, and may keep the specification obsessed enthusiasts away. But match this up with a pair of efficient bookshelves (I have a nice pair of Paradigm 6 1/2's), and well, I guarantee most ears will not be disappointed.
There are many great receivers in this class. I have a Sherwood scheduled to arrive today. I certainly am gong to mix and match, and A/B, but to these middle aged ears, the Nikko is an amazing little receiver for what it is.
Is anyone else enjoying this model, or other models of Nikko receiver?
