Alternative Gyro motor controller

Hi,

I have an older GYRO SE with the german Papst AC motor. I think this motor itself is very good and deserves the best controller/PSU available.
I did use the Gyro with the Clearaudio Syncro, works fine but this only generates a single phase output, so it still needs a capacitor to create the correct (90-deg) phase shift. Still not optimal ...

No I use it with a real 2-phase generator where you can adjust the following: output voltage, frequency for 33.3 rpm, frequency for 45 rpm, phase shift (between 0-180deg) and startup speed.
It's a bit like the QC but with more flexibility.

I used aluminium cases from Conrad. They're very easy to work with, look a bit industrial but I like that.
They're not so big so I used one for the toroid (lowest) and one for the PCB (top).

Practice:
After setting the output voltage at 18VAC my Gyro spins like a dream. The German Papst motor runs very smooth and quiet while staying cool.
A phase shift of exactly 90-deg gives best result, but this is no surprise, knowing these German motors are very well made and accurate.

Lovely.

You may find some interested parties should you put your design in the public domain, or perhaps even offer partial kits.

The old Papst deserves to remain spinning.

Here's my Gyro DC controller. Same case ;-)
