Audio Linear? ???? by another name?

Post by vinylmagpie » 30 Apr 2004 20:02

Interesting experience; 2nd hand dealer takes me to see a deck that recently cost him (he said) £25. Good looking deck with wieghts around the circumference of the platter. Record to rest on the weights.
Sound familiar?

Next visit I see it well set up with an SME 3009....

Top left corner is just like the Focus 1...that triangular cover over the gubbins.

Instinctively I know that it's a fair bit of kit but I now get a new story "This guys been after this for 8 years. I told Him £500 pounds. He offered me £350 for the deck alone so I told him £500 and sell the arm and cartridge."

Oh boy .... does he expect me to fall for that lot?

Apparently this company, Audio Linear or Linear Audio, were just down the road from Mithchell and got the Platters etc from Mitchell and went out of business after about six months.

Last time I logged on I was sure that the News page pic was of this deck...but can I find it in the archive? No!

Has any one any ideas about this deck? I'm intrigued!

No! Not a Transcriptors or Mitchell Hydraulic.

I know these... drool! The weights are "silver"/Chrome on the machine in question and there are six.
