No third-party mats on Michells please.

Keep platter and LPs clean and there is not
one problem with the hard surfaces.

As for the Orbe clamp, you use it to press down
softly, not hard.

180g and 200g with a mat, you can't use the Orbe clamp.
But any mat can be used for a dust cover to protect the platter when not used.

Hi, Werner,
I began using a thin (0.5mm) Herbie's "Donut" mat to use with 120g-150g vinyl since I've been buying heavier (180g-200g) vinyl and wanted an easy way to compensate for the difference in thickness. The mat is just about the right thickness to raise the thinner LPs up to a similar height as the heavy vinyl LPs. So now I can quickly adjust for SRA by either using or removing the mat. A somewhat crude method of SRA adjustment, but serviceable. I found the Herbie's "Donut" mat to be sonically neutral when used on the Gyro SE platter. Apparently the materials are a good match. The improvement in sound from the stylus tracing the groove was superior to any (if any) degradation in coupling of the LP to the platter. That's using a micro-linear stylus. There may not be the same effect when using another stylus profile.

Regards,
Tom
