Will I be able to assemble my Gyrodec?

Postby TheUpsetter » 23 May 2012 18:39

Good day everyone,

I realize this is a pretty open ended question. Firstly, I've got enough technical and spatial ability...never met an Ikea piece I couldn't put together, etc. But then again, nothing Ikea makes is as expensive and precision tuned as the Gyrodec! I'm receiving my Gyro in a few days and it looks like I'm going to be putting it together, mounting the tonearm (tecnoarm) and cartridge (dynavector 10x5).

My current level of turntable proficiency is installing a new cart on my current deck, and even I'm not sure I did "perfectly". I'm hoping that others can share anything before I go ahead and built it. For starters, how long will it take me? Any "gotchas"? Tips? Pointers? etc

Thanks!

Courtesy of Werner Ogiers who is a member here. Probably the best instructions on assembling a Gyro out there:

About two hours. Ensure to be home alone, sell pets and children.
Be well-rested. Work methodically. Take a break when needed.

Whatever you put the Gyro on, make sure it is sturdy so it won't
bow/warp under the Gyro's weight, stable, does not wobble at all,
and utterly and completely level.

Build the Gyro layer by layer, and check that they are all ... level.
