Micro Seiki MA-505, what differs Mk I from Mk II

Postby tomano58 » 12 Jul 2010 14:41

Hi guys, tried to search but couldn't find any useful information. I have a Micro Seiki MA-505 which I'm trying to sell right now. Does anyone knows the difference between Mk I and Mk II? The manual says nothing so my guess is it's a Mk I that I have.

Pictures at https://sth-se.diino.com/tomano/Blocket/Skivspelare

Help is appreciated.

Yours is mk1 and here are some pictures of my mk2, with pure silver internal wires, called the MA 505S:-

Too early in the day to post p*rn 8)

That Micro arm of yours is even easier on the eye than my MA-202L. Have you seen the prices those headshells fetch?

Yes, some people are willing to pay crazy money for those headshells from Micro Seiki, Fidelity Research and Audiocraft etc. But I seriously doubt if they are much superior to those from Audio Technica and ADC. People just pay over the top for the brand names.

Yes indeed. I've read other reports that the Micro Seiki headshell is no better than the AT and ADC...in any event I bought mine without a MS headshell as a MA-505XS (mk I w/ silver tonearm wire and a slightly different counterweight construction than the 'first' mkI), but to my eye it looks identical to your MkII. A mystery! I do enjoy using it with a newer silver tonearm cable, with silver headshell leads as well.
