Pioneer PL-530 only spins in 45rpm - 33 won't engage

Postby mtlytle20 » 24 Apr 2012 03:51

I recently bought a Pioneer PL-530 turntable. It is direct drive, and when it is in 45rpm, it works great, but when I try to push the 33rpm button, it won't turn the platter. I am wondering if it is a problem with the speed buttons or if it may be the motor...It will light up, and the arm moves toward the platter, but the platter doesn't spin. Any advice?

I'm supspecting that it has something to do with the adjustment for the speed changer as the 45rpm is working great as you say.You might be able to find out how to acurrately make this adjustment by looking in the service manual.I hope this helps.

My PL-540 was loosing speed regulation at 33 rpm. I replaced the electrolytic capacitors. I also soldered the wire connects to the various PCBs, the original connection was wire wrap.
