IKEA TIVED led lamp for dust inspection

Dim lighting in my listening room- I've been looking for a lamp to illuminate my turntable due to occasional vinyl handling mishaps, ouch! Anyway I stumbled on this led lamp at IKEA. Wasn't really sure it would do the trick based on examination in the store (ambient lighting was too bright). Bought it anyway for lack of anything better.

The quality of light is very revealing, amplified in a dim room. I can see every speck of dust and defect in the vinyl. Be prepared, it can be somewhat disappointing, pristine vinyl can look very defective. Every paper scuff and handling incident is visible under this cold, hard, direct, analytical (!) light. I imagine any type of led lighting would work just as well (I don't work for IKEA). This is not my first experience with led lighting, I use led spots in my kitchen. They produce a very precise beam. Not a flattering type of light, but great for detail.

I thought that my record brush was working until I bought this lamp. Wrong! Now I give my vinyl a final sweep with a lint free Spin Clean towel before I drop the needle. It gets the last little bit of fuzz that my brush failed to lift. Dust is the enemy. A nice upgrade for not a lot of money.

Recommend using piano lamps. They have adjustable height/distance, and focus their light on the tt perfectly. I've bought about 4 at garage sales for very few dollars, all my friends want one. Since I have a vintage system, I of course use a vintage bronze goose neck lamp - bee-utiful. Must agree, without a properly lit tt, you'll make cueing mistakes that hurt your own feelings, your gear, your records.

Eventually you will wind up with a Nagaoka Rolling 152.

Anyone who has clearly seen the dismal performance of their normal brush usually does.
How boring it would be, this endeavor
If all we heard was "perfect sound forever"
