Moth Mk 2 Record cleaning machine, any views?

Postby status66uk » 23 May 2012 20:25

The bloke at my local record shop swears by this machine so im thinking of buying one, Originally i thought they were a load of rubbish and very sceptical but i may have changed my tune, I bought a record a while back and it had quite a few grubby marks on it which caused prolonged crackle so i took it back and the guy said ill clean it and itll sound great, he cleaned it and it sounded great with no crackling at all, Same with another record which was constant crackle but now its hardly there, Ive bought a lot of vinyl which has a few crackly bits but is absolutely mint and has no marks at all under a very strong light, Im hoping itll quieten the crackle a bit

Have any of you got one of these or have any views on them or have any experience of using them?

Im very tempted to get one but £550 is a lot of money and i want to be sure, but they do seem to get good reviews from audiophiles and seem to be the industry standard.

thanks in advance

I've had one for six years. Still working well but I keep ear defenders hanging up next to it because it's really noisy.
