2019 rip list

Post by cary114 » 09 Jan 2020 02:29

So about May I started a database tracking what I have recorded for the year. Here are my lists that I compiled over the year. I track my needledrops in a database which is the same I use for all of my music. Then I know which is done and which isn't. My first needledrop was 19 years ago and my technique has improved over the years. Some records are therefore needledropped more than once.

In 2019 I just did about 50 LPs. It takes some time to listen through and correct what is needed in mid-side mode in iZotope RX7 with headphones - at least a couple of hours per LP. I try to spot edit just what I want to remove without affecting the rest of the music. NR is never used. mp3tag can download metadata from Discogs through the Discogs ID and that is a good help.

I don't want to publish a list, but the last one was "Like Children" by Jerry Goodman & Jan Hammer, a LP from 1974 with quite good sound - a US Presswell pressing. I'm using a MC pick-up (AT ART9) which I'm very satisfied with.

Hi, thanks for your info.

I have really been enjoying recording the music I find these days. Especially old recordings. I have a mono needle for mono albums (Grado MC) and a needle for my 78's (AT VM670SP). For regular Stereo recordings I use the AT95E that came with my AT-LP120USB. I only do click removal if it is needed. I use audacity to record and then export as a flac file. I manually enter tracks and metadata info.
