Hi all,

Just thought i'd throw this one in:

My turntable cost...........we stopped counting when it went past £100K, and i dont EVER want to know about the money, but it sure cost me 7 years work

Now, that used CD player doesn't seem like it was such a bad offer after all :? !!

Oh well, too late now, better just keep enjoying the music!

Regards

Martin

Pro-ject debut II + Ortofon OM5e + Clearaudio carbon brush + nice collection of 50 records, some of them rare.

= 400 euro

(it was bought to a fellow who got tired of the vinyl scene and wanted to invest all in digital source)

DIY cork mat (a great mod, by the way) = 2 euro
Clearaudio needle brush = 8 euro
Sumiko Oyster cartridge = 75 euro
Knosti record cleaning system = 60 euro
120 antistatic inner sleeves = 36 euro
2 Neutrik RCA phono plugs (substituting the originals) = 3 euro
Cambridge Audio Azure 540p phono stage = 65 euro

Damn, I spent more money than I intended to...

For my Denon DP-59L without cartridge in 1988 I paid $550.00; a significant dealer discount on the $795.00 list price.

Hi all,

My Linn LP 12 with Ittok and Valhalla PS was a $100 purchase. My Technics SL-1600 was a gift from a fellow broadcast engineer. My Thorens TD-124 was a birthday gift from my wife.

Oh my god. I really dont want to do this but here goes:

Got back into vinyl in about 2000 - went out and bought a TT in a hurry.

Project RPM four with arm/cart/phono for 463 euros. Why didn't I stay there??

Replaced the cart with a Blue point special - 350 euros. Broke it. Got another - broke it. Got another - friend broke it.

Gave up on BPS's - bought a Clearaudio Virtuoso 2 for 395 euros - didnt like it.

replaced the arm with a through wired (clearaudio sixstream) Project 9 but with the better bearing - 550 euros.

Did a lot of other mods with lowish costs - replaced the feet, the platter, separated the motor into an external box - say 200 all in.

Replaced the Project phono box with the Acoustic Signature Tango @ 600 euros.

Replaced the Clearaudio cart with a Shelter 901 - 1300 euros.

That's 4558 euros all in - and I was running an RPM Four!!! Mr bargain hunter eh! Learned a lot though.

Anyway - hit 40 - decided to get me a decent birthday present.

Traded in the table minus the cart against a Clearaudio Master Solution with the TQI 2000 tangenital arm - 5500 euros

Bought the external power supply / speed changer - 880 euros.
Bought the outer ring and a replacement inner weight - 950 euros.

discovered the Shelter and the TQI were a dreadful match. After a lot of investigating and calculating figured out a cart that would match - a Denon 103!!!! - 130 euros.

Therefore - current rig (with the Acoustic signature Tango) - 8060 euros.

total to date = 12,018 euros

I now need to lie down in the shade.

Add to that about 3000 records at an average of 5 euros per. No wonder I dont have any money any more.
