How much did your TT(s) cost?

the good, the bad and the ugly

Just unboxed my 1st one a couple hours ago!
Spent about $1000 USD after shipping and tax.

Pro-ject RM5.1SE w/ ground it 2, cover it 2, and brush it. Being used with a Cambridge Audio 640P

I got such a good price because I sell TVs and HT.... I get accommodations, which are so wonderful...

So far I love it, however I'm scared that I'll go broke tweaking it...
Too much to list, I sell the stuff, so most of it was free (the only way I can afford my addiction)!

Dual CS 506-1 - $80 US - has an Ortofon cart
Dual 1219 - $180 US - works but needs a bit of repair. Came with a Stanton 600 cart.

Both were bought off eBay. Got the 1219 pretty recently, the 506 was bought years ago.

Hi all,

Good Christ looking at this makes me wince,

Must be more patient and stop relying on Flea bay...

Technics SL-150 MK 2 £150
Re-wired SME 3009 Series 2 improved fixed head-shell (It is mint condition boxed etc.) ...£261
Shure M97xE £60

£470 ish

Sugden a25 mosfet £50
Ditton 22's £60.

Thats

Not to mention the money spent on car paint to repair the damage to the table and the fact that I still need to make or buy a new arm plate to deal with the (cosmetic) butchery doento the one that came wit the deck...
Oh well it's a pretty sweet sounding system.

I bought a Luxman PD-264 with original tonearm and a Sumiko Pearl cartridge for $275. Also came with the old cartridge which is an AT160ML but the stylus needs to be replaced.

The TT I feel was an excellent deal as it came with its manual, warranty card, overhang guide and original box and packaging! Feels like I bought it new. Not only that the unit was sitting in storage for 10 years and is in excellent condition.

Not much here it goes My girlfriend loves vinyl so Im being honest here!

1st deck is a Dual 1249 I inherited from my great uncle who passed Replaced the cartridge with a M97XE $60 and replaced the chinsy RCAs with new shielded gold plated units that i got a deal on for 2bucks! a pair. This table works great and will always bring back fond memories of my dear uncle.

2nd deck is a technics direct drive SL-D2 I got for $60 with a cheapo Audio Technica cartridge that was obviously put on because the owner did not want to sell his cartridge. I basically paid retail for the new cartridge and got the table for free. This table works and sounds great I highly recommend this table to anyone looking for performance on a budget! I also replaced the cartridge with a M97XE before placing the unit in my sisters room! total $120 Not bad.

3rd deck is a Pioneer PL-50 I just picked up for free! With a ton of other equippment! It needed a belt and the retainer for the platter bearing was missing! I replaced the bearing retainer using a washer that i cut slots in with a Dremel. Cost so far $13 for a belt! The unit also did not have a headshell or cartridge. Bummer Nice decks usually have nice cartridges right? I ended up buying a 45 dollar Stanton headshell/cartridge/stylus combo. Probably going to ditch that Cart and go with something better soon but $58 on a pioneer PL-50 is the deal of the century and it works nicely too!
I know theres some costs Im forgetting there but I have under $250 in to 3 very nice turntables. If I had the money to spend on a 4figure table I would not buy one. My ears cannot tell any difference from the sound of my properly tuned up Technics. Vinyl is a great hobby but does not need to be an expensive hobby!
Reworked Pioneer PL-50
Dual 1242
David Bogen AP-35
Custom hand built (by me) 12AU7A Preamp
2 Hammond Monoblock 6BQ5pp Converted to HI-FI
4 large advents
$9700 in cables alone LOL

I just started using turntables a week ago, but i already managed to get my hands on 3 turntables and over 100 vinyl records. At a very desirable price :)

The first TT i got for free.
AKAI AP-A50 Fully auto linear TT in fully playable and serviceable condition.
Upgraded it with a Stanton l700e (30$), it plays OK
Image

The second TT i got for free.
Dual 510
The arm did not lower itself and the stylus was missing.
New stylus (new old stock shure m95g) 10$ from local store.
Its now fully functional and a great TT.

The third TT i got for free.
Sonab 85-s
Swedish designed TT made by Yamaha, in very good condition, no parts needed.
Sounds very good, on par with the Dual 510.

Total price for three turntables and 100+ LP records
40$ US
