The New Beast In My Arsenal

the good, the bad and the ugly

the new beast in my arsenal

Postby bastlnut » 04 Jul 2010 15:47

hallo,

just thought i would upload something onto my personal gallery....
seriously, now i have something important enough that moved me to create some content.

[album]14095[/album]

and here is a not so good foto showing the size difference between a big Le Tallec, and a small one, and a Thorens TD 320

[album]14096[/album]

more to come.

bas

sounds really amazing.
this is a belt drive that delivers the same type of drive that an Idler drive does.
the quiet behind the musik is not black or dark, it is crystal clear nothing.
i am really happy with it.....of course it will go thru a few changes that i have planned.
i am also building a new rack for it to be placed on, what is there now is just temporary.
the beast weighs 45 kg!
and the valve amp wieghs even more.
hence the need for a new rack!

bas

You very lucky man.Sounds like you need your floor reinforced as well as a new rack. Then again one day I expect to put just a single Lp beside my others and to end up in my lower neighbours flat.
Cool turntable,so what cartridges have you got on it's two tonearms?

Oh boy, maybe one day

Until then, I´m gonna get away with a "little" Le Tallec, which is waiting for me in Dk.

The Grace do help as well. I simply love the looks of those three arms on the deck. Can only imagine three humble carts cherishing your grooves 8)

Do enjoy and thanks for sharing.

bastlnut,

Egads! 8) It even has bass-reflex ports for tuning the low frequencies! Best wishes. Do you need any extra tonearms?

     now that's funny.

Any chance a Reference or Statement will find its way to one of those arms?

of course!
along with a Koetsu and Allaerts on the long ones.
when i rewire my Lurnè unipivot, the Statement will have its home.

DAMN!
i need a fourth arm for my mono cartridge now.....LOL

yes, it does.
there are 2 additional holes in the back for more bass reflex effect and for the tonearm cables to go thru!

ok, sure, i just redrilled the old boards because i did not want to wait anymore.
i did have to put a finish on the 1 inch plywood boaard to help the temporary rack out supporting all that weight.
that alone took 2 days to stain the top and bottom and paint the edges black.
so i was not about to wait any longer!

i do have a few tonearms in reserve.
one, the Lurnè, needs a rewire.
i am also waiting on a newly purchased Audiocraft 12" arm with 2 additional armwands.....i want one 12" arm to be a straight armwand.
of course it must be unipivot!!!

bas

and bastlnut,

actually, the Babinski reflex predicts that if you tickle the underside of the turntable, the principal tonearm will cue onto the Lp. But if you tickle the upper side, the tonearm will cue off onto the armrest.

bauzace50

Bas

Very, very nice!
Nice collection of G-960s & G9-40s ...great arms :D

Which Audiocraft have you got coming....ac 4000 or ac 4400. They are really nice too with some very special arm wands for specific cartridges if you can find them.

Best regards
