Fisher MT-6225 10$ to buy... needed Cart and headshell leads
Sony PS-X5, Free from someone I helped hook up their stereo for. It had an Empire cart on it... but I ended up changing that anyway since it was 30 years old.

There's been other TT's here and gone... Hitachi, Yamaha, Technics that I can recall...

Dual CS-630Q -- $35.
Shure M97xE -- $70.

Total, $105.

Had to repair audio and ground wiring for the turntable. Auto functions still don't work correctly, what's this about a steuerpimple?

[quote="df_genius"]Difficult to turn into a poll because of currencies, nonetheless I will start: [quote]

Rabco ST8 (NIB) w/Ortophon MC30 & MC20, w/matching Ortophon head-amp: US$400 - 1978
Rabco ST7 (used) w/Shure SME w/new stylus: US$75 - 2004
Revox B795 w/Revox-branded cartridge & stylus (stylus new): US$125 and a small bit of work - 2007 Bought three for $450, made two good ones, sold the detritus for $325 as parts, gave one to the son-in-law, hence the final cost at $125. The SOL also has the ST8 at this point (and much more).

Present project: Rabco ST7 needing a cartridge: US$60 2012

Evening folks,

TT I just replaced after several years, a Technics SL-D303 running a Shure M70BX - TT NZD $15 at a garage sale, cart and spare stylus NZD $90.

Replacement, a NAD 533, flipped the Shure into it for the interim. NZD $299.

Regards.

Mine cost a lot, but I got a bunch of Duals. Actually I ended up with a few of them for free, cuz they got so bashed up in transit!! My advice is to buy local and save the heartache of a package arriving that's rattling inside. I hate seeing great TT's reduced to piles of junk good only for parts. Glenn.

Purchased both of my turntables new. First one was a Dual 1219 bought in 1970 for about $180.00 US, and the other a Technics SL-7 purchased for about $450.00 US in 1983. Both are still working well.

My Dual 505-2 cost $275 when I bought it new in 1987. My Technics SL1401 was free as my Dad was cleaning house and was going to throw it away. What a save!!

A Dual 505-4 which cost £50. It was on Ebay for collection only and about a mile from where I live. When I went to see it in action, it had no bids at 99p! I offered £50, which the seller accepted very readily, so I could probably have had it for much less. I can't complain, I love it anyway.

My tables:

Dual 1229 with original V41 cartridge was $40.
Kenwood KP-5022 with Shure 91ED cartridge $40.
Sanyo TP-626 with Shure 91ED $20.
Technics NOS SL-1200MK2 $600 + Sonus Gold/Blue $90 = $690.

The 1200 is the best of the bunch. Rock solid in every respect. So well engineered and a joy to power up and use. The others are all very nice and I like them each for different reasons. I would be hard pressed to thin the group to just one of the three.

-The Sanyo is just a solid utilitarian turntable. It just works good and always works good. I really like the counterbalanced anti-skate tonearm too.
-I always wanted a stacker and an idler drive turntable. With this I get both with the dual 1229 and very good sound too.
-I just love the looks of the KP-5022. The tonearm looks a little like a ratchet wrench, but tracks all but the most warped records. The wood plinth, the platter and the nixie strobe all look great to me. I smile every time I use it. Solid performer.

my TT's:

* thorens TD-166 with shure M91ED (€90 for the thorens, the shure cart used to be my dad's)
* thorens TD-160 with grado black1 (€90 for the thorens, €50 for the grado)

both of them were bought second hand and I personally think I paid a decent price for them. I just love the looks of the thorens TT's. eventually I will get me custom plinths for both and maybe upgrade the tonearms to SME 3009's.
