We could be LP wisperers...

We could be, I talk to my car and do not know why. maybe it is because it is from 1989 and has survived.

Okay I just came across this warped record repair product on Youtube. What say you all! I would feel funny about placing a record in the oven.

Also if it was posted already I am sorry, I had a lot of wine with dinner and am afraid to get lost in this thread of I search it out lol. Anybody use this ever? Does it work? I have a limited numbered edition of Star Wars The Story Of Star Wars picture disc. I own three but one is warped and I would like to repair it.

It had better work for $100 ... that's all I'm saying. I only have about 3 warped records out of the couple thousand, maybe I should just rebuy the records!!

How to Use the Vinyl Flat Record Flattener.

The Vinyl Flat Record Flattener is a new, affordable way to repair vinyl record
warps and dishes. The unique patent-pending design applies a precise amount of gravitational force against the vinyl LP playing surface to flatten vinyl record warps and dishes. When used with a simple, low-heat source (such as a kitchen oven or Vinyl Flat's Groovy Pouch), the Vinyl Flat Record Flattener eliminates most record warps and dishes and is safe for practically all vinyl LP records.

G'day "megatrends"... :)

A couple of sheets of 6mm thick, 350mm square window glass with the offending record placed between them, will serve the same purpose. You don't need to use tempered glass since the temperatures being used shouldn't exceed 65.C (150.F). You could more or less follow the guidelines detailed on that webpage for everything else I'd reckon.

Have fun...

Doesn't the higher level of the label area cause a problem with two sheets of glass? I have no idea, just asking. I would think it would since it is higher than the grooved portion .... or is it?

I presume the warp is more than the thickness of the label.

True I would presume that as well, I looked up some Youtube videos and there were smaller humps left in the record so it technically worked but really didn't "fix" the record.

I think the recessed round label holes in that gizmo for sale there make the difference. I wonder if one could take a thick glass to someone who could cut a round hole in the center a little bit over the size of a label maybe using a high powered water pressure cutting stream like they use on metals in a shop.

Wouldn't cost much to have suitably sized holes cut out for you.... As a wise person once said... "Problems are just solutions waiting to happen."

I am going to give just glass a try with the sun on my star wars record. My record is bowl shaped and not really warped like you would think. Someone had it in their Star wars collection laying down flat instead of standing upright so it warped over time.

I figure since it just needs a nudge to lie flat again i will try it with two thick glass sheets I have from an old entertainment center in the basement.

I'll report what happens!

Bring it in out of the sun when the vinyl relaxes.

Still raining in the North East USA. According to the forecast I won;t see sun until the end of the week.

I can wait! This will be attempted, the sun will come out eventually!! I know this because I know the sun is still there!!!!

this is going to be controversial.

for me its nothing else than the purest quality of extra fine snake oil, some will think otherwise.

because when there is a glimpse of "science" its easier to "explain" why snake oil is so expensive

im talking about the famous schumann resonators

from 6moons audio: The RR-77 pulls off a real magic act in accentuating the musicality of a recording and hifi rig. The non-musical elements of the recording process such as soundspace, soundstaging, imaging, extreme detail recovery and so forth all have a dollop of naturalness applied to them so that they don't distract you from the musical elements of tone, melody, rhythm, emotional impact and musical flow. Those non-musical artifacts are still there but now in complete support of the music to never draw your attention away from the music as some audiophile-style systems tend to do.
The RR-77 is a no-brainer purchase. At $425, it is expensive for what it seems to be - a little plastic box with a circuit board inside.

this comes from the people who produce "fine mahogany cable insulators"....
