The First Inspire/Audiomods Frankenarm!!

Postby rolleye » 02 Sep 2011 16:43

this may well be unique, the only one in existence :D :?: , I'll post a couple more pics this evening as i'm just about to clear up the mess before 'er indoors gets back.

Essentially it's an AudioMods kit which i bought 3 years ago with an Inspire Hi-Fi carbon fibre X100 armtube. I should say thanks to Robert Isherwood of Inspire Hi-Fi who has been a real gent and nothing has been too much trouble.

All i can say is that in the flesh it's really special, haven't put it on the PT Too yet (the one with the OL motor etc) so this weekend should be fun. :D :D

That looks great and something I thought of myself when I looking a pictures of the new Inspire arm. I have a full Audiomods arm but if I decide to go down the second arm route with a 12" arm this could be a option. Both Jeff(audiomods) and Robert(Inspire) are great to deal with and where the source of my arm and TT(used Michell Orbe).

Flap ..... I'd been thinking about a 10" version as that would fit a PT , might have to talk to Bob about that.

The nice thing about the AudioMods arm is you can, with a bit of practice, change and re-wire the armtube in under 40 minutes

Mmmm... that does look nice, I was going to suggest a technoweight but the one on it looks pretty smart.

yeah the audiomods counterweight is the dogs danglers, it has constrained layer damping and a smaller threaded weight at the back for minute adjustments in tracking weight if required.

change of plan.....i'm going to try the AudioMods/Inspire arm on an LPT, recently purchased for re-furbishment (thanks Abril) others on here may recognise it? :D

anyway re-sprayed the top-plate this morning and tidied up the plinth(see below) and hopefully will fit the new arm tonight.

Believe me the Audiomods/DL304 on it sounds superb, and with my spare PT1 DC motor/controller is even better :D

PS
Somewhere else in this forum is a thread about reducing motor noise from the person who had it before me.

found it

Cool arm !
best of both worlds?

Rolleye, dont' you have an FXR too? Have you done an audiomods arm with a Funk Firm wand?

Did Robert sell you just the arm wand?

yes i do have an FXR but have not used the armtube on an AudioMods, removing the armtube from it would completely knacker it.
However if i could get JUST the complete FXR armtube and headshell?? wot say you Arthur??? now that would be something

I sent my original AudioMods armtube to Bob who 'converted' it for me, only took a few days.

Mind you I have yet to do any listening to this 'new' arm so who knows, it could be crap

Thanks for the link Abril,...interesting

Looking good!

What did you paint it with (presumably after stripping the Nextel).

that stuff was a bu**er to get rid of, used varying grades of sandpaper and a lot of hard graft, it took ages to get it all off.

To finish, it had 4 coats of an acrylic grey paint which went on very easily and is almost a perfect match (colour wise) for the original nextel.

It actually looks much better in the flesh, my pics don't do it justice
