Pink Triangle LPT

Postby push-the-feeling » 02 Oct 2010 14:53

Hi,

Does the Pink Triangle LPT (And GTI Model) have master tape like qualities like it's bigger brothers?

Plus I was told the LPT can take a better arms than the RB250.

Thanks.

hallo,

the LPT is good.
and it can take much better arms than the Rega 250.
the RB 250 is not that good to begin with, and after mods is just about acceptable.
the Pink Triangles are better than that.

regards,
bas

Hello,

Thanks for getting back.

Have you heard an LPT? If so, how did it sound?

And what other tonearms work well with the LPT??

Yep, bas is right the LPT is good and can certainly handle a better arm but if you can stretch to one of the suspended Pinks you will definitely get more of the Pink Triangle trademark neutrality and transparency although the LPT with a good arm does very good bass. I ran an LPT / Tabriz for a while but my Export GTI / modded RB250 knocked spots off it and when I fitted the Clearaudio Satisfy Ebony it was in a totally different league!

It's easy to get the equation wrong and spend too much improving an LPT.
Good as they are they are no match for the suspended decks which can be picked up fairly cheaply. PT1s for ex make fairly regular appearances on EBay.
I have told people before about my first PT1 running on a knackered (jewelled) bearing. It still sounded far superior to my LPT.

Thanks for getting back guys.

Can some of you suggest some arms (Apart from Rega) that goes very well with the LPT.

Plus, is the platter on the LPT exactly the same as the ones on the Pink Triangle Export, PT1 and Anni?

Thanks.

I take it you have an LPT with a Rega cutout?
The problem with the LPT is the lack of replaceable armboard so you are really trapped by the cutout you already have - I have tried a Roksan Tabriz which is the same geometry as the Rega and it is most definately an improvement ,but what I have high hopes for is the Audiomods arm which I have on order.

Later today I'll measure both platters (LPT and PT1,Isuspect they are the same)

Yes, please measure the platters.

Yes, I do have an LPT with Rega Cut out. I'm planning on maybe trying the Roksan Nima, which also has Rega geometry.

All I have measured is the spindle hole (0.3mm difference) and the belt pulley dia (0.03mm difference) and my guess is the differences are simply tolerancing.
So it appears they are probably intended to be the same.

The black PT1 listed (above Ebay link) would come up a treat with paint removed. I thought there was a pic in the gallery but can't find one. Oddly the seller is listing the armboard seperately. Anyway if you have the spare cash this would be a great tool for you and you will probably be able to get a good price for the LPT. You may of course wish to hang on to the LPT.
