I may have a use for the balsa and CF yet but if you are interested this is where I got the balsa from,they do 3mm 4mm and 6mm

I could do with knowing what armboard my arm base is for.
Just missed some 774 bits on EBay which included a SME cut base.
Does anyone recognise the measurements I quoted?They are
approx 44 by 60mm

I measured 41*60 just by eye-balling it with a tape measure.

Mine is definitely wider - 43-44mm. Wonder what it is? It won't be a problem
if I make an arm-board but will otherwise.
Anyone got a normal size arm base for the 774?

Good idea. I could kick my myself though because there was an auction
of 774 parts on EBay including a SME base. I didn't bother bidding.
I need to get a knob to turn the counterweight too which is something
J7 can do. I saw your warning about turning the weight itself.
Just listed the LPT on EBay - sad to see it go but it's next owner will
get a lot of enjoyment from it.

Sorry a bit late answering here, but just measured (by steel rule and as accurate as I could) the base plate for the 774 I have comes in at:

Actual base plate - 58 x 90mm

Centre to centre on the holes - 43 x 59.5mm

I do know the 774 I have is the final version they made, but I presume all the 774's came with a standard SME base plate.

You can always try Shaun Smith at Sound Supports, he knows just about every dimension on the market and makes excellent arm boards for other decks. Custom builds are still reasonably priced.

Just looked at your pic of the 774 again - is that a solid counterweight?
If so you will have no need of the knob,only needed if it has the yellow sorbothane insert.

There were a few of these but you almost never see them.
If you want to adapt an SME baseplate you are welcome to this adaptor that J7 made me a while back that the clamp bush fits on to.

Abril, thanks for your kind offer. I would like to see what Shaun says.
The arm counter-weight is black and a hard material. Not sure what it is
but it's quite a lot stiffer than Sorbothane which I imagine has
performance implications.
Bit busy with nasty under the floorboards diy job at the moment.

Shaun replied with the SME dimensions which are 41.2 X 60.3 mm. My arm plate is definitely too big for the SME arm-board it came with. The joy of s/h purchases.
I have emailed J7 about a replacement arm plate.
Abril - I'm unsure how I would use the part you have suggested - could you
please explain? I assume that you would attach the arm collar to the
ring which would be attached to the SME bed plate (EBay).

You've got it
All you need is a couple of drillings in it to line up with the SME thumbscrews and you have an adjustable base.
The slot has been filed out to take the socket ready

I didn't think to enlarge the photo- need to get used to fact these photos are more than thumbnails. Well the part is still available on EBay
so I will probably bid. Meanwhile I have posted elsewhere at J7's advice.

Fitted the DL-160 yesterday. One of the screws broke off when trying to
remove the old cart. Had to drill through.
The 160 sounds better than the VMS30 II

Update-

On the 'new' deck a new 774 baseplate is under construction to SME
dimensions. Nearly finished. The now deck has a shiny black gloss top plate and is looking good.

For the 'old' deck I now have a replacement bearing and motor control pcb from EPay. The seller said he could have sold the bearing four times over.
I just need the rear transport adjustment screw which was missing and my local ironmonger wasn't sure what size it was when I took in the one from the new deck.
Any ideas? Anyone have a spare one ?
I will sell the old PT1 now I have (nearly) all the parts to get it going. It would have been nice to hang on to both though.

I have managed to buy a spare PT1 motor in case the one in the 'new'
PT1 fails at some time in the future.
