Expect a better midrange tone  If you're using a Grado cart for your debut, you will notice a reduction on the hum.

did you really try it? With such a platter is the felt mat still necessary?

You can check this out:

I'm actually using it , and there's no need for a felt mat. :D

But, better check on the thickness of the platter, as you may need to lift the base of the Debut tonearm in order to maintain the VTA.

Hope this helps.

That's impressive...
I own a Project 1.2, which seems quite similar to the Debut III..
I am looking for cheap ways to tweak my TT (besides buying a new cartridge).
Do you think applying adhesive tar sheets on the plynth (on the lower face of the plynth and below the underplatter, or even under the platter) would be a good idea? That would make the plynth and/or the platter heavier and dampen vibrations?

I haven't tried it but I think it would probably better if you just isolate the turntable itself. One way is using a sandbox. Another is using commercially available isolation rollers or vibrapods.

I have yet to do the sandbox, but I did DIYed a set of rollers, using marbles and those rollers used in PC mouse.
