Hello everyone I have been away from hi-fi forever but in the past year I have dipped my toes into the water once again it seems!
In the past few months i have bought a few AR-XA turntables and will be restoring them this winter. Today I picked up a mint Pro-ject 1.2 for a nice price and have it set up and running well.
It has the original cart it was shipped with and to me the sibilance with "S" sounds from female vocalists ie I was listening to Edie Brickell and it was Very harsh. I do not know much about turntables so I have need of some help.
To say i have an informed ear would be a bit of an understatement. I have recorded artists on everything from 1inch tape to 2 inch tape , digital tape and protools rigs and toured etc. I am so familiar with this recording from CD's to listening on my other turntables. Her voice never sounded this harsh.
Where do i start to try and fix this issue? I really enjoy everything else about this tt.
Last thing, I cannot find the little string for the anti-skate? I have the little weight but no string. The tonearm seems to track amazingly well. Do I even need that setup on this tt?
thanks for all the great info here
John
