Hi Folks,
Am running a project 9.1 with 9cc tonearm with a Zyx bloom. I have two queries:

1. Is this TT and tonearm good enough to run a better cartridge. I cant get a ZYX where I am but the Ortofons are available as is the MC scheu which looks much like a glider. I could even get a test ride for this but not for the ortofons. Checked the compliance and it seems to match allright. Has anybody any experience with higher end cartridges on project turntables. The phono stage is a Trigon.
2. Would it make better sense to upgrade the tonearm instead. The scheu cantus is available and has the same linn geometry as the project. Is any one in a position to offer an opinion on the cantus versu project 9cc?

As of now all this is just conjecture, but who knows someday if it is worth it I might be able to swing it.

It's a great arm and we often use Kontrapunkt and Cadenza series on the 9CC series arm with great results. The bearings are very high quality and resonance characteristics far better than most.

Thanks Mate,
That makes me feel a lot more confident. Lets see how high I can push it.

I have to disagree with this - the bearings are of very high quality but the resonance characteristics are very poor. I can show you graphs if you want proof.

You can fit a Cadenza (the Cadenza Blue is my next cart) to the arm and it will sound good but you won't get 100% out of it unless you fit the Oracle damper kit to the tonearm. I always thought my Rondo Blue sounded great until I heard it with the damper, it kills the resonance and showed me what the cart was really capable of.
