Pro-Ject RM 1.3 purchase

Postby GlassWolf » 26 May 2012 17:16

I've found someone with a 1 month old RM 1.3 for sale for $300, which I am about to buy, barring any major issues. The current owner bought it to try out vinyl, and found it just wasn't for him.

I'm looking to upgrade it with an acrylic platter, Ortofon 2M blue MM cartridge, and a DIY Groovewatt valve pre-amp I'll be building.

Any thoughts, issues, or suggestions for me on this, before I send money to this person and buy the TT?

Thanks

It's a nice piece. Dealer cost is about $250. I'd get a cover for it before the other stuff. Stock cart is decent. My only concern is the exposed belt, actually the belt in general. They can stretch if it gets messed with too much. Personally I'd spend a little more and get a debut carbon... After getting a cover for the 1.3, the debut is cheaper. It looks very nice in white with an acrylic platter...
Too much to list, I sell the stuff, so most of it was free (the only way I can afford my addiction)!

yeah I'm actually making an acrylic dust cover and a mass-loaded base for the RM 1.3
