Plug for Steph's Records

Postby RED_One » 16 Feb 2007 11:53

Ordered 11 albums which just arrived & I'm not even halfway through playing them but so far incredibly well pleased
Postage was a bit more to ship from USA but they arrived much quicker than I thought about 1 week. (Still reasonable though)

So I thought I'd give the lady a plug seeing as how I got the link from here in the first place

Highly recommended

Some great albums there Jollyjewler.. The Horslips is a classic. their Celtic Symphony album is fantastic.. Tago Mago by Can is probably their best but does take a few listens to get into.

Led Zeppelin II 200g. Arrived this morning looking forward to thumping it out later. 8)

Bought Jefferson Airplane Surrealistic Pillow new the other day but it's slightly warped - it does play but I think I'll have to take it back and see if they have a flat copy.

Recently bought:
Tattoo You by the Rolling Stones
Jumping Jive by Joe Jackson
Beethoven's 5th Piano Concerto
With or Without You 12" single by U2

And, a pile of classical at $2 and $1 each at a charity shop.

Hey Sparrow...yup, I'm currently trying to source a decent copy of The Book of Invasions: A Celtic Symphony.
A mate of mine at school in the 70's had Tain & Invasions but i never got around to taping them...cassettes eh !
I've got The man who built America, but there were chasing the yankee dollar by then and had gone a bit poppy.

Todays eBay buys:
John Mayall : The Turning Point ( a recommendation from this forum)
Creedence Clearwater: Willy and The Poor Boys.
Mahavishnu : Inner Mounting Flame, recommended by you chaps and Mojo.

It was my wife who introduced me to the Horslips. I have The Man who Biult America, Aliens, Book of Invasions & The Tain. They were a real surprise as I thought they would be just another Irish folk band. They play stuff thats right up my street and some of their songs are very prog wich isn't a bad thing.

Well I reluctantly returned Surrealistic Pillow, it's a great record and I'll have to find it somewhere else soon.

Today I bought some more vinyl (I now need to find time to listen to it).

Look Sharp by Joe Jackson
Ogden's Nut Gone Flake by the Small Faces which is on red vinyl, it was new so should be fine.
The Deutsche Grammaphon set of Beethoven's Symphonies conducted by Karajan for $AU10, what a bargain second hand and they look like they have been well looked after.

A lot to listen to now :D

I wa dragged around the Charity shops this afternoon by my wife. I always have a look at the viny and CD's. Couldn't believe my eyes when in amongst the Val Doonican and Perry Como records there were two albums I knew about but didn't expect to ever find. Lard featuring Jello Biafra (ex singer with Dead Kennedys) & Nomeansno also featuring Mr. Biafra. They were in decent condition and at only One Pound eaach were a snip.
