Well, maybe not.

I take it then that you won't be listening to it before you are supposed to . If by any chance it found its way onto your music replaying machinery how does it sound ? I thought about getting it , mainly for the cover , but have so many other demands on my resources that I haven't jumped yet .

Of course I won't play it yet. I have it spinning away on my turntable, but promise not to drop the needle until11:59 pm Monday evening.
I know it's only rock & roll, but I like it.

HAHAHAHA NICE!!!

I got a couple of records today, one from a friend as a gift. he got me the Star Wars rip off LP which was released in 1978.

Here's another "classic" from the Kid Stuff Repertory Company. Looking at this cover, you might think it was the story of two little American kids who go up in a rocket and have an adventure on a strange planet with two robots, a Threepio and an Artoo ripoff. Except that just about everything on this cover is a lie. The only connection to "Star Wars" is that they play the theme song at the beginning of the record. After that, you get the story "Jack and the Flying Saucer", a sort-of "Jack and the Beanstalk" parallel. The difference is that Jack lives on the planet Boom Boom, a planet where everything makes a loud noise. He and his mother are poor, so she sends him to sell Pinky, their stuffem worm. Jack trades the worm for what he is told is a magic saucer. Mom is upset with Jack when he returns home and throws the saucer out the window. The next morning, it has turned into a flying saucer. He flies off into space, meets a space monster, and eventually lands on the planet Sshhhh which (as you might expect) is a very quiet planet. Jack goes to a castle, meets a giant and his wife, and you can pretty well guess how the story goes from here.

There are some interesting bits here. For example, for some reason the guy playing Jack does it with a Cockney accent. I have no idea why. Also, the story is narrated by Shadoe Stevens, a voice you might recognize from his radio work or from being the announcer on the latest version of the Hollywood Squares.

Anyway, this is a pretty odd one!

Then we have STARCASTLE - CITADEL What a fantastic band!!! Kind of a YES clone with an ELP mix maybe throw in some Kansas as well.

I have their complete discography now on LP.

This record has a tattered sleeve but the lp is MINT!!!!! I got it for $1.00 on eBay.

Car boot day today so while the wife was happily selling stuff I had a wonder round looking for vinyl I saw quite a selection but people are just asking too much for old battered LP's. As we were thinking about packing up for home I decided a loo break was in order. I took the long walk back and came across a guy packing his tables away but his vinyl boxes were still out so I had a look through

The selection I came away with:

Oxygene - Jean Michel Jarre
The best Of Earth Wind and Fire Vol 1*
I Am - Earth Wind and Fire*
Bob Dylan At Budokan Including the booklet and poster
In the Heat of the Night - Imagination*
Their Greatest Hits 1971 - 1975 - The Eagles
Black Rose - Thin Lizy
In the City of Light - Simple Minds Live
Eat to the Beat - Blondie
No More Heroes - The Stranglers
Back to front - Gilbert O'Sullivan
Himself - Gilbert O Sullivan
The Very Best of Leo Sayer
Slade Alive
Singles - Squeeze

Hi-Fi Sound Stereo Test Record

and Crossroads 6 LP box set of Eric Clapton with booklet :)

and all for the princly sum of £12 for the lot. :) Very happy booter today.

* for the wife.

Just bought 2000 :!: off Ebay (more than the size of my collection at its biggest!).
I don't know if anybody is interested in hearing what I get, or even what I'm going to do with them, but if so, I'm happy to post updates here.

BTW, it's not hard to find out what, as my Ebay i.d. is the same as my VinylEngine ID. 8)

I've spent like a drunken sailor this last week on vinyl.
Let's start with Monday night, when I arrived at 11:30 pm to stand in front of Vintage Vinyl STL to wait for Jack White's Third Man Records Rolling record store, which was scheduled to arrive at 4:00pm the next day.
At ten o'clock Tuesday morning I dug through Vintage Vinyls dollar bins to find these.

Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy
Pink Floyd - Meddle
Rush - Moving Pictures
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
Run DMC - King of Rock
Rolling Stones - Rewind
Sir Mix a Lot - Swass.

After nearly 17 hours, the Third Man Rolling Record Store finally showed up.
Got myself 3 copies of

Jack White - Blunderbuss
1 standard black vinyl and 2 limited edition "Lightning Bolt" vinyls.
plus
Pokey LaFarge And South City Three - Chittlin' Cookin' Time In Cheatham County(7")

on Wednesday I ordered

Beastie Boys - Love American Style(EP)
Run DMC - Raising Hell
Phil Collins - Face Value
Phish - Junta

Thursday found me in a mini shop actually located inside a coffee shop.
I always find great stuff at this place for dirt cheap prices in good to great condition and that day was no different.

The Band - Best of
Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Led Zeppelin - II
Led Zeppelin - IV
Sly & The Family Stone - There's A Riot Goin' On
Doors - The Soft Parade
Bruce Springsteen - The River
Bruce Springsteen - Born In The U.S.A.
Derek And The Dominos* - Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs
Steely Dan - Pretzel Logic
Elvis Costello And The Attractions* - Punch The Clock
Paul Simon - Graceland
Paul Simon - One-Trick Pony
Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers - Damn The Torpedoes
Jackson 5 - ABC

but I felt there was a bunch of good stuff that I didn't have enough cash on hand to buy SO I went back on Saturday and got these.

The Bad Plus - Never Stop
Black Sabbath - Mob Rules
Bob Dylan - The Times They Are A-Changin'(mono early pressing)
Bob Dylan and The Band - Before The Flood
Elvis Presley - Elvis' Golden Records
Genesis - Abacab
Genesis - Duke
Genesis - Invisible Touch
Judas Priest - Sad Wings Of Destiny
Modern English - I Melt With You (12" 45rpm)
Prince - Controversy
Queen - News Of The World

I also grabbed a Shure V15 Type III and new Ed Saunders stylus for the Dual 1229.

I started the year with a small row of about 50 albums that I had kept or bought over the years. Now there are hundreds.
the addiction is out of control.
