Ok im gonna annoy some people agian, but hey..whatever!

This remastered vinyl has got to be the worst. The only thing decent about it is the cover.
Not only is the vinyl particualrly ugly but it is not much improvement on the lame cd version.

I dont care what genius remastered it. I know what sounds good and this doesnt.

Waited ages for this and totally dissapointed.

Give me the masters and ill do a better job and i wont press a vomit vinyl either! They really made this sound as bad as it looks.

Is anyone game enough to agree with me?

I have the original HOL. While not great, it´s not bad, rather listenable IMO.

I agree, but let's cut the mastering engineer some slack - the original tape might just sound that way. I actually think KB's output diminished in sound-quality progressively after "Never for Ever", in keeping with virtually the entire recording industry throughout the eighties. She seems to have thought so, at least in the case of "Sensual World" and "Red Shoes". The result of that project - "Director's Cut" and "50 Words for Snow" (both mastered by Doug Sax!) are in another league entirely. She's got American legends on both sides of the glass (Steve Gadd on drums) and it shows.

Only thing wrong with my AF copy was there is an awful tak-tak-tak once per revolution during the entire closing of "Hello Earth" with the Georgian singers. Din' piss me off too much since the closing is a reprise of this recording from earlier in the song, and there's only one song left after, which sounds fine. The rest sounded like an audible improvement over my original US EMI promo.

The SH mastered AF on vinyl is a major improvement over the UK original and the EMI100 180g reissue. First time it's sounded realy analogue to me. I will admit the pressings could have been better. Mine has some minor imperfections but have heard of quite a few with more serious problems with side 2. Sorry Fishtales but either your ears or equipment are telling you wrong for the SQ on this one. Perhaps you are just bugged by the way the master tape sounds.

BTW. The 'vomit' colouring is supposed to replicate that used for the original USA release.
