What was your first record?

Drink, Drink, Drink and Golden Days from "The Student Prince" sung by Mario Lanza on a 78rpm record, 1956 or 1957. This was the first of many Lanza records which aroused my interest in singing. This led to my joining the local opertatic society and later singing with the New Zealand Opera Company (a professional company)in the 1960s.

One Christmas when I was young it was Meet The Beatles, and The Beatles Second Album. (Surpisingly I still have both albums, and they are still playable.)

The first 45 I bought was Kodachrome by Paul Simon. (Back when department stores had nice music sections, and a candy counter.)

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
and
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon.

They were very good first choices.
