:D :D My copy arrived today, i understand some people will be saying the original version will be better but i was too young at the time to buy the vinyl when the album was released.

I do own a fairly good copy, but to have a brand new copy, WOW =D>

I got really lucky with my copy. Got it at good old Half Price Books for like $8. The cover is pretty beat up and one of the original sleeves is missing. But it plays well (although it could stand a good cleaning) and after a little research I figured out its a second pressing (no idea if that's worth anything or not, but I don't plan to sell it anyway).

Might be tempted to get the new one though......
Are we there yet? No, never there yet. Keep it rollin', we're paid by the mile.

So how was it? Is the playback the same sort of quality as Dark Side?

All the recent reviews for Wish You Were Here and a few for Dark Side of the Moon I've seen appear to indicate more attention was placed on the Immersion blu-ray and that these EMI vinyl releases are disappointing in many cases. There is one for The Wall, but it contains no hi-res or surround versions:
Slightly limited compression? Softer?

Any compare/contrast opinions with this in mind for The Wall?

All the poor reviews I have seen are for the US pressing. The UK pressing is far better and available on the UK Amazon site.

Was excited to get my NEW so called improved mastered sound copy of The Wall on 180 gram. What a huge disapointment! Total dead sound, no highs, dull bass, but surface noise is nill seeing that it is new! Listened to it and kept adjusting bass, treble, went to 2 ch. stereo, 7ch. stereo, tried surround, stadium, live, everything! Had my vol. set on 20 tried louder 18, then pulled out my original and compared back to back with side 1 song two, when I put in the original had to kick the sound down to 24! The original has a outstanding sound, that the highs are ear tingling and the bass you can feel in your breast bone! Can not believe I waited 3 months to hear what I can best describe as MUD for sound. I find all these so called NEW releases are way over engineered, either too bright) (10 c.c. Original soundtrack) or crackly unadjusted mixing (Supertramps Crime) The only positive about this is the packaging! Do yourself a $44.00 favor look for a obi japan version or a german import or clean original copy and you will hear how the LP was meant to be heard!

I have to agree with mywhite. I know this album inside out and have been listening to it for years. This new vinyl edition is exactly as the man above says. Dead & dull. All that great production on the original is lost.
This version seems to have lost all the tension and drive of the original. This album is a masterpiece and should not be messed about with.

I have the LP, 9th pressing, and will keep it, also have the CD release, which is also very good. I can remember listening to PFTW on my Sony Walkman while lying in bed before going to sleep.

Sounds very good... A little bass heavy, but nothing a slight tweak of a knob can't fix.... Clarity is excellent....
Definitely D/L the new release or buy it on CD, too... The disc of demos and incompletes is stunning. Very dark and evil! Makes the true release sound light hearted almost. Didn't expect that.....
When you see a movie in a theater, everyone accepts the flaws in the video, but if the sound screws up, everyone wants their money back...
