Perfect sides

name that tune

Perfect sides

Since we have the topic of perfect albums we might as well go ahead an start the perfect sides thread. I only have one: Side two of Frank Zappa's Waka-Jawaka. Some people love Big Swifty, but I never cared for it, but turn the record over and it has what has always been to me to be the best music he ever made. When he wanted to get musical the man had talent and he could rock and roll and swing!

Side 1 of Dire Straits' Love over Gold. Never cared much for side 2 but side 1 is great.

Monkey Boy
I am not a Zappa fan, but that Waka-Jawaka album has his hottest guitar playing.

The example that comes most readily to mind is the first LP by Flash. Side 1 is very good, while Side 2 seems quite lackluster by comparison.

Oh yeah, Abbey Road Side 2 - spot on.

Rush - Moving Pictures
Side One - not a misplaced note on there
Pink Floyd - DSOTM - Side One - yep it might have been played to death but is there a more perfect 20 odd minutes of music?
Pink Floyd - The Wall, side one, In the Flesh to Mother - majestic
Kate Bush - The Hounds of Love, Side Two, the Seventh Wave. Just great, Come to think of it Side one ain't too shabby a set either.
Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street, Side Two (Sweet Virginia, Torn and Frayed, Sweet Black Angel and Loving Cup)
Linn LP12, OL RB300, Ortofon 2M Black, Graham Slee Era Gold V, Cambridge Audio 840C, Modwright SWL9.0SE, Audio Research VS55, Sonus Faber Concerto Domus. Luxman L-309X, Yamaha YP511, Luxman T-88V, Pioneer PD-S501, ProAc Tablette 50.

I know what you mean. They were the first band I ever heard live and that's what they opened the concert with. Love the album cover.

All 3 of these sides make me smile and I would have to agree!
Regarding Zappa sides... my favorite might be side 1 of Grand Wazoo. Not one of his more popular albums, but I cherish it.

It's easy to me:

Rainbow Rising side two - it's a masterpiece for any HR/HM fan...
Greatness of Ritchie Blackmore/Cozy Powell....

Side one of The End by Nico.

Every track is more magnificent and gloomy than the one that preceded it - I often find by the time I get to Valley Of The Kings, the fifth and final track, that my head feels like it's going to explode.

Funnily enough it's the last thing I listened to - I hadn't seen this post but I've long considered it to be the perfect side. The second half of the album is good but it doesn't match the first - which were all Nico penned and arranged.

Side one of Blue Öyster Cult - Cultösaurus Erectus:
Black Blade, Monsters, Divine Wind, Deadline

Side one of Alice Cooper - Killer:
Under My Wheels, Be My Lover, Halo of Flies, Desperado

Also:
Side one of Scorpions - Blackout

Never could get into the second side of any of these, but I think their first sides are incredible and memorable and all the songs go great together.
